Buenos Aires tiene desde el 9 de septiembre pasado un nuevo barrio. Es oficialmente el número 47 y por primera vez desde hace 26 años se agregó una nueva división al mapa porteño. Las 170 hectáreas que conforman Puerto Madero constituyen la zona más cara de la ciudad y, a su vez, la más segura. A pesar de ser el barrio menos poblado (no más de 300 habitantes) y el que tiene menos calles, es el que recibió la mayor inversión en los últimos cinco años. Fruto del mayor proyecto de urbanización de la historia de la ciudad, durante 1993, comenzaron a transformarse las tierras y a reciclarse los edificios que pertenecieron al viejo puerto, inaugurado en 1899 y que 10 años después perdió operatividad. Aquí funcionan cerca de 40 restaurantes, un complejo de 8 cines, una iglesia, la' sede de la Universidad Católica Argentina (U.C.A.) y centenares de oficinas y viviendas. Para el 2005, se proyectaron dos grandes parques públicos, un estadio cubierto, dos centros de convenciones, tres museos, cuatro hoteles de cinco estrellas y más viviendas y oficinas. Cada día visitan la zona más de 20 mil personas, cifra que se duplica durante los fines de semana, ya que se convirtió en un paseo común para las familias y los turistas recorrer las ramblas que dan a los diques.

Buenos Aires has had since last September 9th a new neighborhood. It's officially theforty seventh neighborhood and for the first time in 26 years, a new division has been added to the map of Buenos Aires. The 170 hectares of Puerto Madero make it the most expensive area in the city as well as the safest. Despite being the least populated neighborhood (no more than 300 inhabitants) and the one with the fewest streets, it's the one that has received the largest investment in the last five years. As a result of the most important urbanization project in the history ofthe city, in 1993, the lands began to be transformed and the buildings that belonged to the old port, opened in 1899 and closed ten years later, started to be recycled. In this neighborhood there are nearly 40 restaurants, a complex with eight movie theaters, a church, the seat of the Argentine Catholic University (U. CA) and hundreds of office and apartment buildings. More than 20, 000 people visit the area everyday, a figure that doubles on weekends, since walking down the boulevards that face the river has become a common ride forfamilies and tourists.
